The office and how we work
Lex Lata Consulting & Law is a law office in Istanbul founded by Av. Onur Çalışıcı. It handles criminal, civil and administrative cases, and advises companies on corporate and commercial law and debt collection. It acts for Turkish and foreign companies, investors and individuals, in Turkish and English.
What “lex lata” means
Lex lata is Latin for “the law as it is”; its opposite, lex ferenda, is the law as it ought to be. That is why we chose the name: we tell clients the rule that applies today and what it means for their matter, not the rule they would like to see.
How we work
Mainly corporate and commercial
Company formation, contracts, shareholder disputes and debt recovery make up most of the work. We also take employment, real estate, intellectual property and citizenship matters.
For foreign clients
Correspondence is in English, and we explain what each Turkish petition, decision or contract says.
One contact, fee in writing
You deal directly with the lawyer handling your matter. The scope of work and the fee are agreed in writing before work starts.

Beyaz TV news segments in which Av. Onur Çalışıcı comments on everyday legal questions. The broadcasts are in Turkish.
